DIEP Flap Reconstruction – Page 4

The following images are from actual patients treated by Dr. Elisabeth Potter who have undergone DIEP Flap Reconstruction surgery.

This 44 year old patient has a history of right breast cancer. She initially underwent a right mastectomy with saline implant placement and left saline implant placement and mastopexy for symmetry, all with a different surgeon. This was followed by right breast and axillary radiation. After radiation, she developed capsular contraction in the right breast. She then consulted with us and underwent right implant removal and DIEP flap reconstruction. She underwent one revision surgery two years after her DIEP flap reconstruction.

This 48 year old female has a history of left breast cancer. She underwent bilateral mastectomies and tissue expander placement. Five months after she completed radiation, she had bilateral tissue expander removal and DIEP flap reconstruction.

This 58 year old patient was diagnosed with BRCA1 gene mutation. She underwent bilateral nipple sparing mastectomies with DIEP flap reconstruction. Four months later, she underwent revision surgery to smooth out the edges of her abdominal scars and had implants placed behind her DIEP flaps.

This 64 year old patient was diagnosed with left breast cancer. She underwent left lumpectomy but had positive margins. She opted for left skin sparing mastectomy and underwent immediate DIEP flap breast reconstruction.
